Dans toutes les questions nous nous placerons dans un repère orthonormé (O;i→;j→)\left(O;\overrightarrow{i} ;\overrightarrow{j}\right) .
Question 1

Les vecteurs AB→(2;5)\overrightarrow{AB}\left(2;5\right) et AC→(7;−2)\overrightarrow{AC}\left(7;-2\right) sont ils orthogonaux?

Correction
  • Dans un repère orthonormé (O;i→;j→)\left(O;\overrightarrow{i} ;\overrightarrow{j}\right) , si le produit scalaire de deux vecteurs u→\overrightarrow{u} et v→\overrightarrow{v} est nul alors les vecteurs u→\overrightarrow{u} et v→\overrightarrow{v} sont orthogonaux. Autrement dit :
    u→⋅v→=0⇔\overrightarrow{u} \cdot\overrightarrow{v}=0 \Leftrightarrow u→\overrightarrow{u} et v→\overrightarrow{v} sont orthogonaux
AB→⋅AC→=2×7+5×(−2)\overrightarrow{AB} \cdot\overrightarrow{AC}=2\times 7 + 5\times \left(-2\right)
AB→⋅AC→=4≠0\overrightarrow{AB} \cdot\overrightarrow{AC} =4\ne 0

Les vecteurs AB→\overrightarrow{AB} et AC→\overrightarrow{AC} ne sont pas orthogonaux.
Question 2

Les vecteurs AB→(−2;1)\overrightarrow{AB}\left(-2;1\right) et AC→(3;6)\overrightarrow{AC}\left(3;6\right) sont ils orthogonaux?

Correction
  • Dans un repère orthonormé (O;i→;j→)\left(O;\overrightarrow{i} ;\overrightarrow{j}\right) , si le produit scalaire de deux vecteurs u→\overrightarrow{u} et v→\overrightarrow{v} est nul alors les vecteurs u→\overrightarrow{u} et v→\overrightarrow{v} sont orthogonaux. Autrement dit :
    u→⋅v→=0⇔\overrightarrow{u} \cdot\overrightarrow{v}=0 \Leftrightarrow u→\overrightarrow{u} et v→\overrightarrow{v} sont orthogonaux
AB→⋅AC→=(−2)×3+1×6\overrightarrow{AB} \cdot\overrightarrow{AC}=\left(-2\right)\times 3 + 1\times 6
AB→⋅AC→=0\overrightarrow{AB} \cdot\overrightarrow{AC} =0

Les vecteurs AB→\overrightarrow{AB} et AC→\overrightarrow{AC} sont orthogonaux.
Question 3

Les vecteurs u→=10i→+4j→\overrightarrow{u} =10\overrightarrow{i} +4\overrightarrow{j} et v→=−2i→+5j→\overrightarrow{v} =-2\overrightarrow{i} +5\overrightarrow{j} sont ils orthogonaux?

Correction
Nous pouvons écrire les vecteurs u→\overrightarrow{u} et v→\overrightarrow{v} à l'aide de coordonnées. Il vient alors que : u→(10;4)\overrightarrow{u}\left(10;4\right) et v→(−2;5)\overrightarrow{v}\left(-2;5\right)
  • Dans un repère orthonormé (O;i→;j→)\left(O;\overrightarrow{i} ;\overrightarrow{j}\right) , si le produit scalaire de deux vecteurs u→\overrightarrow{u} et v→\overrightarrow{v} est nul alors les vecteurs u→\overrightarrow{u} et v→\overrightarrow{v} sont orthogonaux. Autrement dit :
    u→⋅v→=0⇔\overrightarrow{u} \cdot\overrightarrow{v}=0 \Leftrightarrow u→\overrightarrow{u} et v→\overrightarrow{v} sont orthogonaux
u→⋅v→=10×(−2)+4×5\overrightarrow{u}\cdot\overrightarrow{v}=10\times\left(-2\right) + 4\times 5
u→⋅v→=0\overrightarrow{u} \cdot\overrightarrow{v} =0

Les vecteurs u→\overrightarrow{u} et u→\overrightarrow{u} sont orthogonaux.
Question 4

Soit mm un réel. Déterminer mm pour que les vecteurs u→(m;3)\overrightarrow{u}\left(m;3\right) et v→(4;−4m+1)\overrightarrow{v}\left(4;-4m+1\right) soient orthogonaux?

Correction
  • Dans un repère orthonormé (0;i→;j→)\left(0;\overrightarrow{i} ;\overrightarrow{j}\right) , si le produit scalaire de deux vecteurs u→\overrightarrow{u} et v→\overrightarrow{v} est nul alors les vecteurs u→\overrightarrow{u} et v→\overrightarrow{v} sont orthogonaux. Autrement dit :
    u→⋅v→=0⇔\overrightarrow{u} \cdot\overrightarrow{v}=0 \Leftrightarrow u→\overrightarrow{u} et v→\overrightarrow{v} sont orthogonaux
Nous voulons que les vecteurs u→(m;3)\overrightarrow{u}\left(m;3\right) et v→(4;−4m+1)\overrightarrow{v}\left(4;-4m+1\right) soient orthogonaux.
Il faut donc que :
u→⋅v→=0\overrightarrow{u} \cdot\overrightarrow{v} =0 équivaut successivement à :
4m+3×(−4m+1)=04m+3\times \left(-4m+1\right)=0
4m−12m+3=04m-12m+3=0
−8m+3=0-8m+3=0
−8m=−3-8m=-3
m=−3−8m=\frac{-3}{-8}
m=38m=\frac{3}{8}

Question 5

Soit xx un réel. Déterminer xx pour que les vecteurs AB→(x−1;x)\overrightarrow{AB}\left(x-1;x\right) et AC→(2;2x−1)\overrightarrow{AC}\left(2;2x-1\right) soient orthogonaux?

Correction
  • Dans un repère orthonormé (0;i→;j→)\left(0;\overrightarrow{i} ;\overrightarrow{j}\right) , si le produit scalaire de deux vecteurs u→\overrightarrow{u} et v→\overrightarrow{v} est nul alors les vecteurs u→\overrightarrow{u} et v→\overrightarrow{v} sont orthogonaux. Autrement dit :
    u→⋅v→=0⇔\overrightarrow{u} \cdot\overrightarrow{v}=0 \Leftrightarrow u→\overrightarrow{u} et v→\overrightarrow{v} sont orthogonaux
Nous voulons que les vecteurs AB→(x−1;x)\overrightarrow{AB}\left(x-1;x\right) et AC→(2;2x−1)\overrightarrow{AC}\left(2;2x-1\right) soient orthogonaux.
Il faut donc que :
AB→⋅AC→=0\overrightarrow{AB} \cdot\overrightarrow{AC} =0 équivaut successivement à
(x−1)×2+x(2x−1)=0\left(x-1\right)\times 2+x\left(2x-1\right)=0
2x−2+2x2−x=02x-2+2x^{2}-x=0
2x2+x−2=02x^{2}+x-2=0
Nous reconnaissons une équation du second degré, il faut donc utiliser le discriminant.
Δ=b2−4ac\Delta =b^{2} -4ac ainsi : Δ=12−4×2×(−2)\Delta =1^{2} -4\times 2\times\left(-2\right)
Δ=17\Delta =17
Comme Δ>0\Delta >0 alors le numérateur admet deux racines réelles distinctes notées x1x{}_{1} et x2x{}_{2} telles que :
x1=−b−Δ2ax{}_{1} =\frac{-b-\sqrt{\Delta } }{2a} ainsi x1=−1−172×2x{}_{1} =\frac{-1-\sqrt{17} }{2\times 2} d'où :
x1=−1−174x{}_{1} =\frac{-1-\sqrt{17} }{4}

x2=−b+Δ2ax{}_{2} =\frac{-b+\sqrt{\Delta } }{2a} ainsi x2=−1+174x{}_{2} =\frac{-1+\sqrt{17} }{4} d'où :
x2=−1+174x{}_{2} =\frac{-1+\sqrt{17} }{4}

Il en résulte que les vecteurs AB→(x−1;x)\overrightarrow{AB}\left(x-1;x\right) et AC→(2;2x−1)\overrightarrow{AC}\left(2;2x-1\right) sont orthogonaux lorsque x=−1−174x =\frac{-1-\sqrt{17} }{4} ou si x=−1+174x =\frac{-1+\sqrt{17} }{4}
