Pour vérifier si l'association entre "matrice" et "arithmétique" est effectivement maîtrisée.
On considère la matrice carrée suivante : M=(2−111011−12)∈M3(R)M = \begin{pmatrix} 2 & -1 & 1 \\ 1 & 0 & 1 \\ 1 & -1 & 2 \end{pmatrix} \in \mathcal{M}_3(\mathbb{R}).
  • On note par I3I_3 la matrice unité associée.
  • On note par O3\mathcal{O}_3 la matrice nulle associée.
  • On désigne par nn un nombre enter naturel.
  • Question 1

    Calculer M2−3MM^2-3M.

    Correction
    On a :
    M2−3M=(2−111011−12)×(2−111011−12)−3(2−111011−12)M^2-3M = \begin{pmatrix} 2 & -1 & 1 \\ 1 & 0 & 1 \\ 1 & -1 & 2 \end{pmatrix} \times \begin{pmatrix} 2 & -1 & 1 \\ 1 & 0 & 1 \\ 1 & -1 & 2 \end{pmatrix} - 3\begin{pmatrix} 2 & -1 & 1 \\ 1 & 0 & 1 \\ 1 & -1 & 2 \end{pmatrix}
    Soit :
    M2−3M=(4−333−233−34)+(−63−3−30−3−33−6)M^2-3M = \begin{pmatrix} 4 & -3 & 3 \\ 3 & -2 & 3 \\ 3 & -3 & 4 \end{pmatrix} + \begin{pmatrix} -6 & 3 & -3 \\ -3 & 0 & -3 \\ -3 & 3 & -6 \end{pmatrix}
    Soit encore :
    M2−3M=(−2000−2000−2)=−2(100010001)M^2-3M = \begin{pmatrix} -2 & 0 & 0 \\ 0 & -2 & 0 \\ 0 & 0 & -2 \end{pmatrix} = -2 \begin{pmatrix} 1 & 0 & 0 \\ 0 & 1 & 0 \\ 0 & 0 & 1 \end{pmatrix}
    Finalement, on en déduit que :
    M2−3M=−2I3M^2-3M = -2 I_3
    Question 2

    Soit xx un nombre réel. Déterminer un polynôme PP annulateur de la matrice MM.

    Correction
    D'après la question précédente, on a :
    M2−3M=−2I3M^2-3M = -2 I_3
    Soit :
    M2−3M+2I3=O3M^2-3M + 2 I_3 = \mathcal{O}_3
    Si on introduit le polynôme P:x⟼P(x)=x2−3x+2P : x \longmapsto P(x) = x^2 -3x +2, alors ce polynôme PP nous permet d'écrire que P(M)=O3P(M) = \mathcal{O}_3. Ceci implique que P:x⟼P(x)=x2−3x+2P : x \longmapsto P(x) = x^2 -3x +2 est un polynôme annulateur de MM.
    Question 3

    A partir de la méthode de la division euclidienne, déterminer l'expression de la matrice MnM^n.

    Correction
    On a :
    Donc :
    M2−3M+2I3=O3M^2 - 3M + 2I_3 = \mathcal{O}_3
    Soit xx un réel. D'après le principe de la division euclidienne, nous pouvons écrire que :
    xn=(x2−3x+2)Q(x)+R(x)x^n = (x^2 - 3x + 2)Q(x) + R(x)
    avec QQ et RR qui sont deux polynômes. De plus on a la condition deg⁡R<deg⁡(x2−3x+23)\deg R < \deg (x^2 - 3x + 23). Ceci implique que deg⁡R=1\deg R = 1. Donc :
    R(x)=anx+bn    (an ; bn)∈R2R(x) = a_n x + b_n \,\,\,\, (a_n \,;\, b_n) \in \mathbb{R}^2
    On a alors :
    xn=(x2−3x+2)Q(x)+anx+bnx^n = (x^2 - 3x + 2)Q(x) + a_n x + b_n
    On remarque alors que, si x=1x=1 alors on trouve que 1n=an+bn1^n = a_n + b_n, soit 1n=an+bn1^n = a_n + b_n. De plus, si x=2x=2 (ce qui permet d'annuler QQ) alors on trouve que 2n=2an+bn2^n = 2a_n + b_n. On en déduit aisément que :
    {an=2n−1bn=2−2n\left\lbrace \begin{array}{rcl} a_n & = & 2^n-1 \\ & & \\ b_n & = & 2 - 2^n \end{array} \right.
    En passant à la notation matricielle, on a :
    Mn=(M2−3M+2Im)Q(M)+anM+bnI3   ⟺   Mn=O3Q(M)+anM+bnI3M^n = (M^2 - 3M + 2I_m)Q(M) + a_n M + b_n I_3 \,\,\, \Longleftrightarrow \,\,\, M^n = \mathcal{O}_3Q(M) + a_n M + b_n I_3
    Donc :
    Mn=O3+anM+bnI3   ⟺   Mn=anM+bnI3M^n = \mathcal{O}_3 + a_n M + b_nI_3 \,\,\, \Longleftrightarrow \,\,\, M^n = a_n M + b_n I_3
    Ce qui va nous donner :
    Mn=(2n−1)(2−111011−12)+(2−2n)(100010001)M^n = (2^n-1) \begin{pmatrix} 2 & -1 & 1 \\ 1 & 0 & 1 \\ 1 & -1 & 2 \end{pmatrix} + (2 - 2^n) \begin{pmatrix} 1 & 0 & 0 \\ 0 & 1 & 0 \\ 0 & 0 & 1 \end{pmatrix}
    Soit :
    Mn=(2(2n−1)−(2n−1)2n−12n−102n−12n−1−(2n−1)2(2n−1))+(2−2n0002−2n0002−2n)M^n = \begin{pmatrix} 2(2^n-1) & -(2^n-1) & 2^n-1 \\ 2^n-1 & 0 & 2^n-1 \\ 2^n-1 & -(2^n-1) & 2(2^n-1) \end{pmatrix} + \begin{pmatrix} 2 - 2^n & 0 & 0 \\ 0 & 2 - 2^n & 0 \\ 0 & 0 & 2 - 2^n \end{pmatrix}
    Soit encore :
    Mn=(2(2n−1)+2−2n−(2n−1)2n−12n−10+2−2n2n−12n−1−(2n−1)2(2n−1)+2−2n)M^n = \begin{pmatrix} 2(2^n-1) + 2 - 2^n & -(2^n-1) & 2^n-1 \\ 2^n-1 & 0 + 2 - 2^n & 2^n-1 \\ 2^n-1 & -(2^n-1) & 2(2^n-1) + 2 - 2^n \end{pmatrix}
    Finalement :
    Mn=(2n−(2n−1)2n−12n−12−2n2n−12n−1−(2n−1)2n)M^n = \begin{pmatrix} 2^n & -(2^n-1) & 2^n-1 \\ 2^n-1 & 2 - 2^n & 2^n-1 \\ 2^n-1 & -(2^n-1) & 2^n \end{pmatrix}
